April Is Poetry Month

April 23, 2013

The Basic English classes have been working on "free expression" by writing poetry. We've practiced alliteration, onomatopoeia, similes, metaphors, personification, imagery, etc. by writing tongue twisters, definition poems, telephone poems, and onomatopoeia poems.  The classes then took it a step further and chose five out of ten styles of poetry to write for a poetry packet.  Choices included tanka, shape poetry, limericks, Haiku/Lowku, free verse, diamonte, couplets, cinquain, alliteration, and acrostic poetry.  To see their great results, look at the bulletin boards next to Room 308 in the east 600 Hallway.  Come and see their amazing results!  I'm so proud of their work.
