American History I CT, Mr. Frauen

October 4, 2013

This week in class we have been looking at the issues leading up to the Declaration of Independence.  In class the students have been comparing the issues between England and the American colonies.  As we have gone through and established the root issues, we began to look at how the relationship began to unravel.  During Monday's class we started off with a "break up letter" in class that the students thought was a note between two of their classmates, it was only after reading the note that they found out it was from the original thirteen colonies.  What they found out is that the relationship between England and their colonies had become so bad, that the American colonies declared their independence.  It was the Declaration of Independence that was their break up letter to England.
