Bio-Poems Creation

In an effort to demonstrate an understanding of how an author uses mood and tone to enhance their writing, students in Mr. Jilka's English 1 CT are constructing bio-poems based on the novel, Monster.  Students are analyzing the feelings, thoughts, and fears of a significant character and then constructing a formatted poem.

Within the poem, the phrases must provide evidence and support of that character and their significant situation. The phrases must demonstrate the author's implied mood and tone.  After completion, students will be reciting the poems aloud to practice adapting their speech to match the character's role in the story.
