Concert Choir in Review

April 12, 2013

Those of you who were fortunate enough to attend last December's High School Winter Concert will know exactly what I mean when I say I am incredibly pleased with the improvement I have seen in our choirs here in Lexington.  Make no mistake about it, these kids are getting the job done in a big way.  The final piece, "Christmas Finale", allowed us to combine the Band and Choir and put every single high school musician on stage to perform together as one large ensemble.  Over 200 Lexington students made music together and treated the audience to an unforgettable experience.

Second semester has been just as exciting.  I can't wait for our kids to get out there and have the audience hear what I hear in rehearsal each day.  Our Concert Choir is tackling international music requiring them to sing in French and make the sounds of the Brazilian rain forrest, our Women's Choir is making beautiful three-part music and our Show Choir is learning their choreography so quickly I can hardly believe we've only been together since January.  As an added bonus, we even have 10 students signed up to sing solos at District Music Contest in April.  Things are really happening with Lexington Vocal Music and I am glad to see the enthusiasm.
