Kearney Bound Applications

February 5, 2013

The Kearney Bound applications are now available to all 9th grade students that qualify for the program.  A student can get the application from Mrs. Wozny in the counselor's office.  The application is due back in the counselor's office on Thursday, February 28.

Kearney Bound is a cooperative program between the Lexington Public Schools and the University of Nebraska Kearney that guarantees full financial support for 15 ninth grade students to attend UNK for four years.  This is the 7th year of the program.  Currently there are 44 students in the program at Lexington High School.

To qualify for the Kearney Bound program a student must be  first generation (neither parent has a four year college degree) and the student must have significant financial need.

A committee of eight LHS teachers, counselors, and UNK representatives will meet to read each application and then chose the top 15 students.  The winners of the Kearney Bound program will be announced about April 1.

The students are evaluated on their overall GPA, character, and an essay they must complete on the Kearney Bound application.  For more information please contact Mr. Davis in the LHS Guidance office.
