LHS and VR Nebraska Work Together to facilitate Transition Services

November 15, 2011

Seniors participating in Ms Archer's Career Preparation/Transition courses, and other identified seniors, have been busy working with VR Employment Specialist, Carole Baldwin, in order to facilitate a smooth transition from the high school setting to various post-school environments.  The role of VR Nebraska, a federally funded program that operates within the NE Dept of Education, in the Transition Program is primarily one of planning and helping to identify appropriate post-school goals and needed supports.

These seniors are busy finalizing their career and employment plans for after high school by setting post-school goals in the areas of education, employment, and independent living.  In order to make informed decisions, seniors are completing a variety of transition assessments, participating in college/university site visitations, completing job shadowing experiences, and many other activities.  In addition, these seniors are in the process of completing an electronic portfolio on the www.careercruising.com website.

In order to learn more about VR services, please visit their website at http://www.vr.ne.gov/ or find them on Facebook at "Nebraska VR".  For further information about LHS transition services, contact Ms Becky Archer, LHS Transition Coordinator, at 308-324-4691 extension 2-309.
