The Lexington High School Speech Team is gearing up for another season of writing, memorizing, presenting, and competing.  The Speech Team Kick-Off was held in mid-November.  Twenty possible new members were in attendance at the meeting to learn about possible events, competition and practice schedules, and guidelines for the team.  With all of the returning team members and the potential new members it looks as if the speech team may be the biggest it has been in several years with up to forty members possible.

Team practices will begin on Monday, November 28, 2011 and will be held weekly from 3:45 to 5:45 (or beyond) each day after school.  Team members sign up for one thirty-minute practice per week, per event.  They are encouraged to practice additionally on their own at home as well.

Students will practice and prepare up to three events for competition each weekend.  The competition begins December 17 with a short trip to Cozad for the Cozad Holiday Speech Tournament.  After Christmas break the tournament schedule will heat up as students will compete every Saturday from January 7 at the Lexington New Year Invitational up to March 13 in North Platte for district competition.
