State Journalism Contest!

February 27, 2013

Competition season is underway for high school journalism students in Nebraska. This means along with meeting the 2012-2013 yearbook deadlines the students have had to package and submit entries for the 2013 NSAA State Journalism contest. The yearbook students have entered into eight of the contest categories, ranging from theme development to photography. On April 15 the preliminary results will be announced. Those who qualify will compete in the State Journalism Finals Contest on May 13 in Lincoln. Last year a team of three females, senior Bertha Pargas, junior Lilia Jimenez and sophomore Yracema Rivas competed in the yearbook theme development category. This year we hope to qualify more students to compete.  Not only are the students increasing their involvement in journalism, yearbook advisor Erica Brockmoller will help judge the Florida State Journalism Contest and help at the Nebraska High School Press Association summer workshop in Lincoln.
