Way To Go LHS Art Students!!

April 23, 2014

Seventeen art students from Lexington High School participated in the annual McCook Community College Exhibition and Paint-In competition.

Each participant entered at least one piece of work in any of the following areas; drawing, painting, pottery, mixed media, photography and digital work, 3D and printmaking.

Three Lexington students took honors.  Freshmen Elizabeth Macias took second place in pottery for her teapot.  Senior Erika Martinez took third in the 3D category for her wire sculpture of an old-fashioned alarm clock.  Lizzy Sarnes took third in painting, with her black & white painting of a pug, and also took second in the drawing category for her retro drawing of seven women.

Additionally, a group of young ladies took third in the paint-in competition.  The theme for this years' competition was "fantasy city."  Each school/team was allotted 2.5 hours to design and paint their rendition of what a fantasy city should be.  Members of the Lexington third-place team are pictured below (left to right), Haley Smith, Leslie Garcia, Hannah Ostrom, Paige Arnold, Elizabeth Macias, Stephanie Carbarcas, Daffnie Realpe and Alejandra Adame.
