Day of the Dead

October 27, 2015

In Spanish class this week we will be going over the cultural aspect of Latino with The Day of the Dead which is on November 2. In class we will be watching a video on the culture on El Día de Los Muertos, and where it originated. In Mexico, they don’t see death as a mourning day, it is to celebrate or remember those who have passed away. People go to the cemeteries and decorate the tombs. Also they make an altar with the deceased picture and the favorite items of the person. We are going to work on different crafts that each person will do individually to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Another movie we are going to see is the Book of Life, which demonstrates what Day of the Dead is about. The Day of the Dead and Halloween have two different meanings and they have different origins.
