Essay Writing in English

January 19, 2015

It is 2015, and the third quarter is officially underway! And in Mac and Reimer’s English classroom, we have hit the ground running! The freshmen have been engaged in writing their first five-paragraph essay. This essay also serves the purpose of applying for the Kearney Bound Scholarship. Writing this personal statement has been an awesome experience for the students as they have had to self-reflect and write their story. The process has been long and stressful, but upon conclusion, the students took a big sigh and handed them all in with a smile! On the other hand, the juniors have been restlessly preparing for the junior state writing test. This long and painful process has lead to tears, sweat, and stressful laughter. Overall, I have been very pleased with the effort put forth into the journey preparing them for the test, and I am looking forward to seeing the results! A final note, research season is quickly approaching, so in a unified effort, please continue to be a strong encourager for your student as they enter into this endeavor!

Also, I want to make all readers aware of an opportunity to help grow my classroom library. In an effort to grow my classroom library, I am asking for book donations! The books can be used, favorites, classics, or new! Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

“Reading changes your life. Reading unlocks worlds unknown or forgotten, taking travelers around the world and through time. Reading helps you escape the confines of school and pursue your own education. Through characters – the saints and the sinners, real or imagined – reading shows you how to be a better human being.”
