Chips, Chips, Chips

April 16, 2018

The Honors Biology classes just finished out the unit on classification of life and did so by learning how to classify items, or life, by specific characteristics. Students brought in different types of potato chips and practiced how to make a dichotomous key by focusing on characteristics such as taste, color, texture, and other identifiable characteristics. They learned that they can often use different characters to distinguish chips from each other and often there are many ways to come to similar conclusions. The best part of the lab was having to identify similar looking chips by taste!
