ELL Newcomer Students Learn About the West Region of the United States

May 11, 2017

Newcomer students in Mrs. Kulhanek’s ELL Social Studies class recently finished their Southwest Region unit projects.  After studying a variety of vocabulary, the final unit project had students researching, writing, and building a 3D Model that represented a location from the Southwest Region of the United States.  Their projects reflected a variety of locations and landmarks such as the Rocky Mountains, the Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Kilauea (a volcano in the Hawaiian Islands), and Death Valley.  Some of the students also chose events such as a Hawaii luau or the Alaskan Iditarod.
