LHS Clothing and Design

January 10, 2018

In Clothing and Design students will experience redesigning a large, oversized second hand t-shirt into a wearable garment.  Students will sketch out their designs on portfolio sheets while looking for inspirations on social media.  With the aid of dress forms the students will have the opportunity to use these to try their garments on while making alterations.  Their second group project will be a double-sided ear bud case.  They will learn how to work with zippers.  A third project is a match box mini quilt.  Many techniques of quilting on a small scale will be experienced.  It's a great project to try before adventuring into a large quilt.  After the class projects are done students have the opportunity to make an independent, unique project.  They may make one large project or several small ones.
