One Act Season has Started!

September 27, 2019

Lexington High School Play Production (One Act) has begun. There was a lot of interest in participating in either cast or crew, which made for serious competition with auditions. The play, “An Absolutely True Story (as told by a bunch of lying liars)” by Ian McWethy, will have 22 in the cast and 22 in the crews.

The story centers on a family trying to get to the bottom of how a vase got broken. The result is a fun take on several “explanations” of what happened from the kids and their friends, with the parents trying to determine which is true. However, they discover the truth may not be what it seems to be, especially when it turns out the dog can talk.

One Act/Play production is an acting competition where a school selects a script and cuts it to a 30-minute production. Performances are judged on acting and staging. At a contest/festival, we have roughly an hour to get our set put up on stage, perform the play, take down and remove the set, and receive critiques from the judges.

The kids love it.

Here is the schedule of performances:

Gothenburg – Saturday, Nov2. Time is not yet set.

North Platte – Monday, Nov 11. Time is not yet set.

Open Rehearsal in Lexington – Friday, Nov 15. Performance at 7:00 pm

Crete – Central Conference – Tuesday, Nov 26. Time is not yet set

Location and time for district competition has not yet been set.

If you have a chance, please come to one of the festivals or at least the open rehearsal, to witness what the kids have put together.
