State Fair

September 8, 2017

Students in Clothing and Textiles were introduced to fibers and fabrics by attending the Nebraska State Fair.  On Tuesday, August 29, 2017 twenty six students headed to Grand Island along with FFA students who took in the agricultural events.  Several hundred quilts from all over the state of Nebraska were on display for the students to examine.  The immaculate artisan work was breathtaking.  Students learned to appreciate the amount of time and effort that go into these magnificent works of art.  They were also introduced to a Spinners and Weavers exhibit.  Guild members educated the classes on the art of spinning fibers into yarn with modern spinning wheels.  The students also observed another member weaving the spun yarns into fabric.
