What’s Happening in Lexington FFA

October 24, 2017

FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education

What do the letters FFA stand for?

The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization.

The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.

The Lexington FFA Chapter has grown from last year to 42 members strong.  Our officers include Danielle Barraza  - President; Jennifer Nava - Vice-President; Isis Ramirez - Treasurer; Aileen Reynosa – Secretary; Crystal Garcia – Reporter; Tomas Margritz – Sentinel.  It is because of the hard work these officers have done in recruitment that our chapter is growing.

What is upcoming for Lexington FFA is on November 8 we travel to Curtis for Livestock Judging and Natural Resources CDE.  On December 13 we travel back to Curtis for LDE contests.  These contests consist of Senior Public Speaking, Junior Public Speaking, Cooperative Speaking, Creed Speaking, Employment Skills, Natural Resource Speaking, and Agricultural Demonstration.
