Burger King Scholarship:  $1000, $5000, $25,000, and $50,000.  Criteria: 

  • Be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico
  • Be graduating high school seniors (U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada
  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent

D.J.'s Hero Award Scholarship  The Salvation Army of Nebraska is accepting nominations for their annual scholarship.  This $10,000 award recognizes Nebraska youth ages 17-19, who exemplify the qualities of dedication to faith, selfless acts for others, and commitment to community.  Given in memory of D.J. Douglas Watson Memorial Scholarship This $600 scholarship is offered for any senior intending on studying Criminal Justiceat a Nebraska college or university in order to pursue a career in law enforcemnt or probation. Criteria for the selection of this scholarship includes character, work ethic, financial need and demonstrate an interest in criminal justice. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Award:  $4000-$60,000.  Eligibility: high school senior, citizen of the United States, male and female students compete separately.  Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.  Application must be submitted to the Elks nearest your home, Lexington students would submit to the counseling office and we would get them to the Elk's in Lodge in Cozad. Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards:   Eligibility:  Any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2008, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2008, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2014. Hagan Scholarship Foundation:  This scholarship could provide up to $5000/semester for rural counties.  This renewable for up to seven semesters.  Student must show financial need, have a GPA of 3.5 and an ACT score of 23 or higher. Hastings College Rick Wilson Memorial Scholarship: Students must reside and attend high school in Cozad, Gothenburg, Lexington, or other Dawson County, Nebraska communities.  Strong consideration will be given to academic achievement, leadership ability, and community involvement.  Up to four $5000 scholarships will be awarded to first-year students who meet qualifications.  Scholarship is renewable with a 3.0 GPA.  Talk to financial aid director.

Horatio Alger Scholarship:  50 $5000 Scholarships.  Eligibility criteria: be enrolled full time as a high school senior in Nebraska, have a strong commitment to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution located in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution); critical financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred; if higher, an explanation must be provided); involvement in co-curricular and community activities; demonstrate academic achievement (minimum grade point average of 2.0); be a resident of Nebraska, be a citizen of the United States.  Application available at https://scholars.horatioalger.org/scholarships/about-our-scholarship-programs/state-scholarships/  Apply:  August 1 - October 25.        (updated Fall 2018)

Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP): This is a cooperative program between UNK and UNMC very similar to RHOP.  Guaranteed admittance into UNMC. Maestros del Futuro: Bilingual Education Scholarship:  This scholarship will pay for room costs UNK. It is capped at the base room rate, or what is equivalent to the room rate of Men's Hall. Applicants must complete a FAFSA by February 1 to establish eligibility as U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents fo the United States. Students who have deferred action status must submit documentation of DACA status. Applicants must be fluent, both speaking and writing, in Spanish and demonstrate a gunuine committment to becoming a teacher.  An ACT of 22 and minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.  Scholarship is renewable up to four years.  Application available at www.unk.edu/offices/oma/scholarships.php   Deadline:  February 1 (updated 2019)

National Society of Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR) has multiple scholarships ranging from General Scholarships to subject specific degrees. Specific requirements of each scholarship, due dates and the specific email address to whom it shoud be sent vary for each scholarship. Nebraska Legal Professionals Association Scholarship:  One $500 and one $1000.  Criteria:  Enrolled full time in pre-law, paralegal, legal secretarial, criminal justice, or a law related program and have a 2.5 + GPA.  Application can be found at www.nebraskalegalprofessionals.org  . Nebraska Line Workers Scholarship:  $450.  Criteria:  resident of the state of NE, intend to pursue training in a utility line program in the state of NE.  Instructions and applications are available in the counseling office. Nebraska Press Assoc. Foundation Scholarship:  5 - $2000 scholarships. Nebraska Wesleyan University Early Action Program:  students who apply to NWU, are accepted, and complete financial aid form located on website by December 1st could receive up to $14,000 which is determined by ACT score and GPA.  Deadline:  December 1   (updated fall 2018)

Nebraska Wesleyan University Rick Wilson Memorial Scholarship:  Students must reside and attend high school in Cozad, Gothenburg, Lexington, or other Dawson County, Nebraska communities.  Strong consideration will be given to academic achievement, leadership ability, and community involvement.  Up to four $5000 scholarships will be awarded to first-year students who meet qualifications.  Scholarship is renewable with a 3.0 GPA. Northeast Community College Scholarships:  One online application is required for most of the Northeast Community College scholarships. Available October 1, 2018, you must submit the completed Online Scholarship Application at http://www.northeast.edu/financial-aid-and-scholarships/scholarships.aspx no later than February 1 to be considered for scholarships for the 2018-19 academic year. Once you have submitted the completed form, you will be considered for all Northeast scholarships for which you are qualified. The Northeast scholarship process is separate from the federal and state aid application.  You must have applied and have a username and password to complete the online application.  Deadline:  March 1     (updated 2019)

NMC CAT Diesel Technology Sponsorship Program:  Tuition, Fees, Books, Supplies, and Tools will be paid for at Central Community College in Hastings if you are going into the Diesel Tech Program.  Eligibility:  Visit CCC Hastings, complete application and be accepted to CCC, complete application for the NMC sponsorship and take COMPASS, ASSET or the ACT.   Online application at www.nmcsponsorship.com.  You are encouraged to apply for this and  NMC CAT Diesel Technology Scholarship.        Deadline:  January 31 (updated 2019)

Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub Scholarship:  Full tuition at UNK, room, meals, fees and books. Oxbow Animal Health Scholarship Program: $500 scholarship for a NE high school senior interested in a career in the pet industry or work in the field of animal health and nutrition.  Complete online application at www.oxbowanimalhealth.com/community/scholarships and submit a 300-500 word essay explaining why you want to pursue a career in the pet industry or in the field of animal health.  Winners announced May 1, 2018.  Deadline:  Applications postmarked by March 2, 2019

P.E.O. STAR Scholarship:  $2500.  Eligibility:  Female, exhibit excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success.  Senior.  3.0 GPA or higher. US Citizen.  Plan to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.  Talk to your counselor of your intestest in this scholarship.  There are 4 PEO chapters in Lexington and there is an interview process as each chapter can only nominate one girl. Once the chapter makes their selection, the application form is sent to the applicant. United States Senate Youth Program: Any junior or senior that is currently serving in an elected or appointed capacity in organization including Student Body president, vice-president, secretary or treasuer, Class president, vice president or treasuer, Student Council representative or a Student representative elected or appointed to a district, regional or state-level civic or educational organization.  Application must be completed by October 3, 2018.  There is a student testing sheet that must be completed and returned to Nebraska Department of Education.
