Crazy Snowy Winter!

March 12, 2019

It has been a crazy snowy winter, let’s hope spring is here. My flowers are coming up through the snow, so they are ready for spring too. The Liberty Team had a great trip to Mid-Plains Community College, in spite of the snow morning. Our students had a great time getting some hands-on experience at the technical campus in the morning, some students in my group were able to give welding a try. Then off to the academic campus in the afternoon. Many students were very impressed with the new medical facility where they interacted with a number of highly technical medical “dummies”.

This spring will be very busy. We have MAPS testing coming March 20 and 21. Then counselors will be at LMS to register Liberty Team for high school, March 26. Ready or not parents high school is coming. We will also have state testing March 28-April 4. A few tips for students before taking any of these tests:

  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Eat a high protein breakfast
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Have a pre-test ritual to ease the stress, ie visualizing positive results, deep breathing, listening to music, etc.

In social studies in between testing and Easter break we will be focused on the following topics:

  • An introduction to the Constitution and understanding the 3 Branches of Government
  • The Bill of Rights
  • An overview of the first 16 American Presidents

Take Care and have a great rest of the school year!! Sincerely, Ms. Bourge!!
