Fire is Catching!

Teachers and students alike enjoyed taking time out of their reading classes to learn reading skills through Suzanne Collins book, Catching Fire.  All students on the 8th grade floor took time in late October and early November to read about Katniss Everdeen and her trials with The Capitol. She and Peeta Mellark, by defying odds, both won the 74th Hunger Games.  Rules state that once a Victor they are no longer eligible for the games.  This was a special year, the Quarter Quell, where the rules changed.  It was announced that the tributes for the 75th Hunger Games would be pulled from the existing pole of Victors.  In District 12 there was only one female, Katniss.  Katniss and Peeta were heading back into the arena.  Would the odds be ever in her favor?  Would she, Peeta or both make it out alive again?  Pick up the series, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, to find out!  To celebrate our successful Catching Fire Reading Unit we went to watch the premier of the movie Catching Fire.  Students and teachers alike were geared up for the movie and excited to get to reading the third and final book in the series, Mockingjay.
