Middle School Science

September 28, 2017

Science classes at the middle school started off bright with the eclipse.  All middle school students had the opportunity to view a once in a lifetime event.  What a great experience for teachers and students alike!

This year is also the beginning of a research project sponsored by the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Two professors from UNK’s biology department are using hydroponics to grow a sustainable food source.  One, sixth grade classroom and two 7th grade classrooms are growing tilapia and vegetables as part of this research project.  So far the sixth grade tank holds approximately 30 tilapia and 10 pea plants.  Hopefully by the end of the quarter, there will be tomatoes, peppers, cilantro and other various vegetables and herbs.

Here is to a yummy school year!
