Newton's 3rd Law

This week in Mrs. Sund’s 7th grade Science class the students will be building bottle rockets.  Last week the students learned the different laws of motion.  Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion states, when one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts a force of the same size, but in the opposite direction, on the first object.  The students are learning how Newton’s Third Law applies to building and launching bottle rockets.  This week they will be doing research on how they can effectively design their rocket to stay in the air the longest.  Once the students have finished their research they will be making/designing their own bottle rockets.  There will be a contest amongst the students on who’s rocket can stay in the air the longest, on the day we launch the rockets.
