Read for Real

readingReading classes at Lexington Middle School use a reading system called Read for Real. Read for Real helps teachers deliver lessons using specific reading strategies for non-fiction text. Students focus on before, during, and after reading comprehension strategies, vocabulary skills, and fluency reading. At the beginning of the year, students take a pre-test, providing teachers with baseline data of student skills. At the end of the year students take a post-test to demonstrate the Read for Real skills they have learned. Read for Real has six student book levels. A student’s placement with a Read for Real book is based on their reading level and class.
