Food and Coat Drives

The Lexington Middle School Student Council coordinated and led a food drive and a coat drive during the weeks before Christmas break.

The food drive, which was a homeroom competition, was a huge success with over 1600 food items donated.  The top five homerooms will receive a pizza party.  The top 5 homerooms (and number of food items donated) were Mrs. Ringenberg (208), Mrs. Stenberg (173), Mrs. Hadley (133), Mr. Koch (106) and Mr. McKenna (80).  All of the food items will be donated to the local food pantries.

The coat drive was also a success with over 200 winter clothing items (coats, jackets, gloves, mittens, and scarves) donated.  Those who donated were entered into a raffle and won some very nice prizes.

Winners and their prizes were Karen Rojas (television), Isaac Ortiz (bicycle), Emily Trinidad (pizza party), Ms. McDonald (i-tunes card), Efren Aguirre (basketball), Yasmin Corado (football), and Maribel Perales (soccer ball).  All of the items will be donated to local agencies.

The Student Council would like to thank all of the students, teachers, and parents who made both of these projects successful.
