Speech & Language Pathologist

Lexington Public Schools is accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year for a Speech & Language Pathologist. Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology & hold, or able to obtain a valid NE Teaching Certificate with a Speech Language Pathologist endorsement. Open until filled. Teacher Contract 2025-2027

Substitute Teacher steps in when the regular Teacher is absent. In short-term roles, they are primarily responsible for following the lesson plans already created by the regular Teacher, but in a long-term role, they create their own lesson plans in accordance with the established curriculum and the regular Teacher’s learning outcomes for the class. In addition to instruction, the Substitute Teacher monitors and reports on student behavior and maintains a positive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and generally receive the individual attention they need to effectively learn the material in the lesson plan.

Responsibilities and Duties

    • Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
    • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
    • Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
    • Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground, and in the cafeteria
    • Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan
    • For long-term substitutes: develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher’s past lesson plans

Qualifications

    • A valid and current Substitute Teacher license for the State of Nebraska
    • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages
    • General knowledge of several subjects

    • Assist teacher with paperwork such as reports
    • Communicate with children and help them understand lessons
    • Prepare the classroom settings to promote a healthy learning environment
    • Ensure classroom safety standards are met at all times
    • Monitor children with particular attention to those with special needs
    • Act as a nurturing and encouraging influence for students during lessons
    • Engage with children to enhance learning
    • Monitor the classroom and minimize distractions and disruptions
    • Perform clerical tasks as required

Elementary Technology Specialist for Lexington Public Schools works directly with all pre-k through 5th grade administrators, teachers, and staff to provide on-going technology related assistance, maintain technology equipment and infrastructure in each building.

 

  • Maintains all district hardware including but not limited to computers, iPads, Apple TVs, LCD Projectors, Document cameras & etc. for all classrooms, teachers, staff and students, pre-k through 5th grade
  • Performs deployment, maintenance & updates for all computers & iPads in grades Pre-K – 5
  • Maintains & updates inventory of all technology equipment in grades Pre-K – 5
  • Lead role & first responder for all printer/copier maintenance at Pre-K-5
  • First responder troubleshooting for all technology related issues at Pre-K – 5
  • Process all technology equipment for repair- remove & return equipment to original
    location- set up temporary equipment for grades Pre-K – 5
  • Initial troubleshooting for network issues in all Pre-K- 5 buildings.
  • Assist with all technology staff developments.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

 

Job is inside air-conditioned and heated offices, and will require traveling between buildings with occasional outside service work. Strong communication skills as well as good oral and written skills are essential. This position requires that the employee is able to work flexible work hours that may include nights and weekends and have own transportation available. Position requires some lifting up to 45 pounds.
