Extra Duty Positions
Lexington Public Schools is now accepting applications for following assistant coaching positions.
In order to serve as a head or assistant coach or sponsor of any activity sponsored by the NSAA individuals must possess a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate or Nebraska Administrative and Supervisory Certificate issued by the Nebraska Department of Education.
Individuals who do not possess either of these Nebraska certificates, can obtain a Special Services Certificate from the Nebraska Department of Education to meet the NSAA requirement.
Obtianing a Special Services Certificate for Coaching:
1. Complete (2) online NFHS course at www.nfhslearn.com/courses.
2. Fingerprint cards are required if you have not continuously lived in Nebraska for the past five (5) years.
3. Complete the Nebraska Department of Education Special Services Certificate application at www.education.ne.gov/TCERT.
4. Submit original certificates to the Nebraska Department of Education indicating completion of the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching & NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches.
5. The Nebraska Department of Education will send the Special Services Certificate electronically to the individual’s email address included on the application.
6. The certificate will be valid for five (5) years and can be renewed.

Lexington Public Schools has two openings for fulltime general maintenance positions.
Applicants must have some knowledge in heating and air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Applicants for this job must be able to work in varying heights, in weather extremes throughout the year, lift up to 75 pounds unassisted, and have ability to run different types of power equipment. Applicants will be required to obtain a CDL with a bus permit within the first 4 months of employment. Basic computer skills are required. Lexington Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Sixpence Home Visitor for the 2025-2026 school year. Applicants must have the Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree bachelor’s degree in:

The McKinney-Vento Liaison ensures that students who are experiencing homelessness are identified, enrolled without barriers, and have equal access to educational services. The liaison coordinates transportation, school meals, and academic support; trains staff on homeless student rights; maintains required records; and connects families to community resources. Liaisons must comply with federal McKinney-Vento Act requirements and state guidelines (e.g., Nebraska Rule 19). Strong collaboration, communication, and advocacy skills are essential.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR(s): Migrant Coordinator and Student Services Director
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Act and/or experience working with vulnerable populations. Bilingual skills are preferred, but not required.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: The Migrant Coordinator will oversee McKinney Vento staff and assist with performing the program responsibilities. Student Services Director will oversee compliance with the grant and state reporting.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external agencies. Organizational and recordkeeping skills to manage case files and reporting. Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations.
TRAVEL AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Travel may be required. Must maintain a driver’s license, and complete appropriate training and requirements from the district transportation department.

Substitute Teacher steps in when the regular Teacher is absent. In short-term roles, they are primarily responsible for following the lesson plans already created by the regular Teacher, but in a long-term role, they create their own lesson plans in accordance with the established curriculum and the regular Teacher’s learning outcomes for the class. In addition to instruction, the Substitute Teacher monitors and reports on student behavior and maintains a positive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and generally receive the individual attention they need to effectively learn the material in the lesson plan.
