LHS Automotive
Automotive students have been very busy. Some of what second semester students have studied are drivetrains, brakes, and suspension systems. We have looked at some of the new safety systems such as electric magnetic shocks, electronic stable control, and adaptive cruise control.
Automotive students have completed a lot of shop projects, including oil changes and several tire repairs. They have packed wheel bearings, repaired heater controls, and replaced the following: ball joints, suspension bushings, brake pads and rotors, window regulators, and a rear crank shaft seal. Students also completed many more tasks and remain hard at work.
Students are currently working on replacing a boat trailer axel with hydraulic brakes. Diagnosing noise is an essential task when working on vehicles. Currently there is noise in a car that is possibly a front wheel bearing failing. Students must determine where the noise is originating from, diagnose what component is failing, and replace the failing component. We are also looking at a four-wheeler for nonfunctional low beam headlamp and oil lamp not operating with low pressure.
